Reichenberger Straße runs from Kottbuser Tor in the northwest to the Landwehrkanal at its southeastern end, between the canal and Görlitzer Park. It is about 500 meters to the corner of Skalitzer and Oranienstraße. Paul-Lincke-Ufer is about 200 meters from the house, Görlitzer Park maybe 150 meters. So in a few minutes' walk you can reach two of the city's most popular promenades. Along Paul-Lincke-Ufer and Oranienstraße there are numerous bars, cafes and restaurants. On Maybachufer, on the other side of the canal, there is a weekly market on Tuesdays and Fridays, the Neukoellner Stoff- und Textilmarkt on Sundays, and a flea market twice a month in the summer. At SO36 you can learn how to dance halay and why roller disco was so cool in the 70s. A bit further on Oranienstraße, Melek serves fresh almond croissants around the clock, and if you're in the mood for something heartier, Hazir is the place to go. All good reasons for this neighborhood. That's why people come here. The public transportation connections are also excellent: You can get on the U1 at Görlitzer Bahnhof and the U8 at Kottbuser Tor.
