Description
The impressive Gründerzeit building at number 20 catches the eye with its beautifully detailed façade, decorated with masks, columns and Art Nouveau elements.
The building was extensively renovated and modernised in 2007. Among other improvements, an elevator was added and balconies were installed on the side wings. In the entrance area, you can still see many of the original architectural details, showing the care the previous owner took to preserve the character of the building. The rear balconies were also added as part of the renovation, and the entire courtyard was refurbished. Today, the courtyard is one of the building’s highlights, together with its impressive façade.
The small two-room apartment itself also retains a number of original features, including stucco, wooden floorboards and traditional panelled doors. It also has a balcony overlooking Erich-Weinert-Straße.
The apartment is in good overall condition, although it would benefit from a little attention here and there. Nothing major, however, and the work should be relatively straightforward.
Overall, this is a charming apartment in a central location, offered at a comparatively fair price.

Location
Erich-Weinert-Straße is a long, lively street connecting Greifswalder Straße in the southeast with Schönhauser Allee to the west, following the curve of Berlin’s S-Bahn ring.
The southeastern part of the street is still a little less developed than the western end, where the building at number 20 is located. The closer you get to Schönhauser Allee, the more attractive the surroundings become. The stretch between Schönhauser Allee and Greifenhagener Straße is particularly charming, with more richly decorated façades and trees lining the pavements.
Just a few minutes from the Schönhauser Allee Arcaden, a short walk across the bridge takes you to Gethsemane Church, Stargarder Straße and Helmholtzkiez. Head the other way across Schönhauser Allee and you are quickly in the Gleimviertel, at Mauerpark or Arnimplatz – right in the heart of some of Prenzlauer Berg’s most popular spots.
The real advantage is that everything is close by, including S-Bahn and U-Bahn connections, while the apartment itself is not directly surrounded by the hustle and bustle. You can therefore enjoy everything the neighbourhood has to offer while still having a quiet place to come home to.
